In the spirit of home developing, Nikky and I came across a very intriguing process of developing black & white film. Because that is the bulk of what we shoot (for home processing reasons — color is so difficult!), we were intrigued!

Browse around the internet, and you’ll find many different takes on it. We found the most straightforward caffenol developing tutorial and found some Vitamin C powder, instant coffee, and washing soda online.

The results were intriguing, with a lot of texture and contrast. I’d definitely try it again, and shoot my film with this processing in mind. I’ll find those shadows, seek out high-contrast textures.
