ABOUT SERENE

(Ugh, i hate this. Let’s get coffee and chat instead.)

I’ve always been a reader—the kind who sneaks books into meetings and juggles three different genres at once. From dark romance to medieval art history, I genuinely believe there’s no such thing as guilty pleasure reading.

My career path hasn’t been typical. I started as a software engineer, then pivoted to nursing, graduating from Seattle University in 2022. I spent several years as an oncology nurse at Fred Hutch and Fox Chase Cancer Centers, managing complex cancer treatment protocols. That work taught me precision and how to handle high-stakes complexity, but it also reinforced something I already knew: life is short, and you should spend it pursuing everything that makes your heart beat faster. (That’s my takeaway, at least.)

Through every career shift and cross-country move, bookstores remained constant. They’re where I’ve found myself between transitions, discovered ideas that changed my trajectory, and felt most at home. Eventually I realized I could combine my technical background with my love of these spaces to build something useful.

I’m building inventory management software for independent bookstores because they deserve better tools—tools that actually understand their workflows and let them focus on connecting readers with books instead of tracking stock in spiral notebooks. This work brings together everything I’ve learned in service of the places that have always meant the most to me.

So here’s my leap into entrepreneurship. Wish me luck!
