Drying Flowers
Every year I lose the garden to autumn, so I started pressing and hang-drying cuttings to hold onto it a little longer. Right now most of what I dry is headed toward handmade bookmarks for the beta readers who helped me launch Bookplate.
What I’m drying
A rotating mix from the yard: herbs going to seed, dahlias as they fade, whatever holds its shape. Pressing for the flat pieces, hanging in small bunches for the rest.
Notes
Color is the hard part. Some blooms keep it and some go brown no matter what I do. The plan is to pair the dried pieces with paper I am (messily) learning to make myself.
